FAQ's
Parents often have many questions for us about enrolling their child in a PLASP program. Below are some of the most commonly asked questions we have received. If you do not find the answer to your question, please send us a message and we will respond promptly.

Q. How do I find out more about your programs?
A. The easiest thing to do is visit the location nearest you. Program Directors will be able to answer all your questions and provide you with any additional information you are looking for.

Q. How do I register my child in a program?
A. A registration package can be provided for you when you go out to visit the program. You can complete the registration package then and there and our staff will process it immediately.

Q. What type of information do I need with me when I register?
A. In addition to basic personal information such as your name and address, we will also need the name/s of your child, ages, your school location, the program you are registering in, emergency contacts. You will also need to complete a medical information form which will require the names, addresses and phone numbers of your child's doctor and dentist.

Q. What if I am new to the community and do not have any emergency contacts?
A. Your registration will not be confirmed until you have two emergency contacts that would be available.

Q. What if I don't have a doctor or dentist?
A. If you don't have a doctor or dentist, write in the phone number and address of a Medical Clinic and Dental Clinic that you would use.

Q. I have two children do I get a discount?
A. Families with three or more children enrolled in PLASP programs qualify for a 50% discount for the child incurring the lowest program fees.

Q. Is there subsidy available?
A.

Both PLASP and the Region of Peel operate a subsidy program for those who qualify.

Q. What type of activities do the children do?
A. PLASP programs are recreational programs, so children enjoy planned activities such as crafts, gym games, outdoor activities and special events.

Q. Does my child get a snack?
A. In the before school program, children are served a nutritious breakfast. After School they are served a healthy snack. Those children registered in a lunch program are required to bring their own lunch, but lunches can be heated in a microwave.

Q. Can kindergarten children register in the program?
A. Kindergarten children can attend the before and after school programs, however there is no care provided during school hours.

Q. Do staff have their E.C.E. Certificates?
A. Our program staff are trained to work with school age children and hold a Standard First Aid Certificate. All caregivers are required to successfully complete courses through our own ongoing training program including Postive Caregiving for Children and Positive Behaviour Management.
